The Pancha Rathas (meaning "Five Chariots") are a group of monolithic rock-cut temples located in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, carved during the 7th century under the rule of the Pallava king Narasimhavarman I (Mamallan). Despite their name, these structures are not actual rathas (chariots) but temples carved from a single long granite boulder.
