Most travelers walk Kyoto's 400-year-old kitchen guessing at signboards. You'll walk it with someone who knows which yuba is hand-pulled this morning, which dashi-maki to skip, and which shopkeeper still keeps a secret for regulars.
In 90 minutes through Nishiki Market, we taste our way through eight to ten carefully chosen bites — yuba, Kyoto dashi-maki, hamo tempura, wagyu skewers, sansho pickles, a seasonal sweet, matcha gelato, and a few more your guide picks for the day.
We start at 10 AM, before the noon crush turns the alley to a standstill. Small group of 8, English-speaking Kyoto local, stand-and-eat etiquette included.
