The tour begins with a drive across the Jules Wijdenbosch Bridge, which connects Paramaribo with Commewijne. Next, we visit the Fort Nieuw-Amsterdam Open Air Museum. You will discover the rich history of this fort, which was built in 1734 by Dutch colonists to protect the surrounding plantations against attacks from the English and French. Old cannons and historic buildings still serve as reminders of this period. After the visit, we drive to Mariënburg, where we board an authentic tent boat.
