Wenchi Crater Lake
Depart early morning from Addis Ababa for Wenchi Crater Lake. Stop in Ambo for traditional coffee and snacks before continuing your journey.
Upon arrival at Wenchi, settle the entrance fees at the office, then drive to the crater rim for a spectacular view of the lake. Hike down to the hot springs and waterfalls. Along the way, you’ll encounter local livestock and hike to a newly constructed bridge that offers a premier vantage point. Enjoy an immersive trek with optional horseback riding, and cross the lake by traditional boat to visit the historic 13th-century church on the island monastery.
After the excursion, relax with a peaceful lakeside lunch or picnic, then meet your vehicle for the scenic drive back to Addis Ababa.
Tip: Leaving early gives you more time to enjoy Wenchi without rushing.
