Anza Trail
We will descend down into the flood plain to come up close and personal with the most endangered forest in North America, the Cottonwood Willow Gallery Forest which lines the Santa Cruz river along the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail. This is also prime bird-watching country with the appearance of birds from Mexico that you can see nowhere else in the United States.

Travel back in time to the Spanish colonial frontier in the Sonoran Desert at Arizona's first state park commemorating the location of the first European settlement in what is now the state. We will explore the archaeological remains, reflect on the historical interpretation and see amazing artifacts linked to the origins of our state.
