The Battle of Salga, which took place in 1581 in Port Judeu, is remembered as a decisive episode of the Azorian resistance, when a group of inhabitants of Terceira managed to repel Castilian troops using ingenuity, courage and even wild cattle to defend the island during the crisis of Portuguese succession.

The Contendas Lighthouse, in the Ponta das Contendas of Terceira Island, stands out as a coastal landmark since 1934, built on a wild and protected landscape, guiding the navigation while contemplating one of the most beautiful and preserved areas of the Terceira coast.

The Parish Church of St. Sebastian, located in the Villa of St. Sebastian on the island of Terceira, stands out as one of the oldest churches in the Azores, founded in the 15th century and recognized by the rare frescoes of the 16th century, for its simple yet imposing architecture, and for the profound historical and religious value it has preserved since the early days of the Azorian settlement.

Porto Martins, on the south coast of Terceira, is a parish known for its natural pools, its peaceful atmosphere by the sea and its mild climate which makes it one of the most pleasant places on the island to swim, walk and live by the sea.

Praia da Vitória, on the eastern coast of the island of Terceira, stands out as one of the largest and most welcoming cities in the Azores, known for its wide bay, vibrant marina and a relaxed atmosphere that uniquely combines history, the sea and urban life.

Taste of Cheeses

The Sulfur Furnas, located in the center of Terceira Island, is a fumarolic field where volcanic gases are released through cracks in the soil. This geothermal phenomenon creates a unique environment, with intense vapors and sulfur odor, revealing the volcanic activity still present on the island and offering visitors a striking experience of direct contact with the force of nature.

The Biscoitos, on the north coast of Terceira, are famous for their natural pools of volcanic origin, the vineyards grown in black stone walls and for a landscape marked by the contrast between basalt, the sea and the wine tradition that defines the identity of the parish.
