First of all imagine you are entering 1500 years old one of the oldest and once the biggest Cathedral in the world built by Byzantines that housed for Christians and Muslims for years. It's unique to see Christian mosaics and Islamic elements together in one place in the world. Hagiasophia today once again became a serving mosque.(Still having the Byzantines mosaics )With one shot you will see a church and a mosque and learn both of it! Firstly you will discover the deep history of Hagiasophia from the beginning till today.
Upper gallery has stunning Byzantine mosaics and beautiful inner details like Islamic calligraphies, hidden Viking graffiti and Islamic additions. There are also a lot of small but very important symbols and details left from church and The Coronation Area of Byzantine Emperors. When the tour finished you can stay longer inside if you like to.
We are not entering the prayer area we can only visit upper gallery visiting area.
