Zagori, also called Zagorochoria (The Zagori Villages) is a historical area and a municipality in Epirus, Greece, with an area of some 1,000 km², including 46 villages. Since 2023 the Zagori Cultural Landscape has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Central Zagori is one of the most picturesque and culturally rich regions in the Zagori area of Epirus, northwestern Greece. It's part of the broader Zagorochoria (Ζαγοροχώρια), a cluster of traditional stone villages nestled in the Pindus Mountains, known for their well-preserved architecture, stone bridges, cobblestone paths, and stunning natural landscapes

Kokkorou ancient stone bridge
is a historic stone arch bridge located in the Zagori region of Epirus, Greece. Constructed in 1750 through the sponsorship of Noutsos Karamersinis from the nearby village of Vradeto, the bridge spans the Voidomatis River, connecting the villages of Koukouli, Dilofo, and Kipoi.

Bridge of Plakidas

Monodendri is built entirely with local stone and slate, maintaining the traditional Zagori style.
Its cobbled alleys and restored mansions (many now turned into guesthouses or restaurants) create a nostalgic, old-world feel.
It's a car-accessible village, but very walkable once inside
Visit to the Monastery of Agia Paraskevi (15th century): One of the oldest monasteries in Zagori, built right into the cliffside.

Oxia
From Oxia, you get a sweeping view of Vikos Gorge, which holds the Guinness World Record for being the deepest gorge in proportion to its width.
The cliffs drop nearly 1,000 meters into the gorge below.
The viewpoint offers uninterrupted vistas of the Aoos River valley, Tymfi mountain range, and the layered limestone folds that make the geology here so striking.

Vitsa
Vitsa is built amphitheatrically on a slope, offering panoramic views over the gorge and the opposite village of Monodendri.
It’s divided into Ano (Upper) and Kato (Lower) Vitsa, with cobblestone paths connecting everything.
Traditional Epirus-style mansions, stone walls, slate roofs—it's pure Zagori charm.
