Grotta dello Smeraldo
the Emerald Grotto was discovered in 1932 by a local fisherman, Luigi Buonocore, and owes its name to the particular color of the water, which with plays of light filtered into the rocks creates astonishing colours: from blue to emerald green. One of the few caves that can still be visited on the Amalfi Coast, about 30 meters wide, its highest points host columns, stalactites and stalagmites, which create an enchanting environment for all the tourists who visit the Divine Amalfi Coast every year.
The entrance is anonymous but, after a few seconds, time will no longer have any value nor color, or at least the conception that we commonly have of it. In fact, the cave represents its magnificence, an embroidery of light spanning millennia, which the sea reproduces in the most sublime shades: cobalt blue which gives way to turquoise which becomes green and finally emerald green, which envelops everything.
