After departing from Warsaw, we travel about 1.5 hours to the quiet forests where the former Nazi death camp Treblinka II once stood. At the memorial site, you will learn about Operation Reinhard, the deadliest phase of the Holocaust, during which around 800,000 people were murdered here. Walking along the symbolic path that represents the railway ramp where deportation trains arrived, we reach the main monument dedicated to the victims. You will see the large cracked granite memorial and hundreds of stones representing Jewish communities destroyed during the Holocaust. Throughout the visit, we discuss the stories of prisoners, survivors, and perpetrators, as well as the August 1943 prisoners’ uprising that helped lead to the camp’s closure.
