Formed in 1893 by members from Trinity looking to start a new parish.
Built: 1894 in Victorian Gothic style by local architect T.J. Collins, a major figure in Staunton’s architecture.
Architectural highlights:
Elegant brick Gothic Revival with pointed arches and stained glass windows by Tiffany & Sons.
Interior vaulting and evolved layout after 1902 reorientation.

Formed in 1893 by members from Trinity looking to start a new parish.

Interior vaulting and evolved layout after 1902 reorientation.

Groundbreaking in 1895 to serve Staunton’s growing Irish Catholic community.

One of the distinctive religious buildings in Staunton’s Gospel Hill Historic District, a rare example of Moorish Revival architecture locally.
History & Architecture:
Congregation founded in 1876; current synagogue completed in 1925.
Designed by local architect Sam Collins of T.J. Collins & Sons in Moorish Revival style, uncommon among American synagogues.
Features notable Mercer tile work and six Charles Connick stained-glass windows.
