We will start the day early, in the jungle near Puerto Morelos, seeing which of the local wildlife we can see. Being a fully natural experience there are no guarantees on what we see but may include parrots, toucans, eagles, hawks, owls, mot mots, trogons, hummingbirds, oreoles, flycatchers, agouti, fox, squirrels.

Visit the protected marine area at Akumal, the Mayan "place of the turtles" with a local turtle guide, respecting the rules always on how to avoid disturbing these wonderful wild animals. Weather-depending, board a small boat for 2-3 minutes to then snorkel over the coral reef, before swimming to the protected area in which you will see turtles feeding. The total time in the water is approximately one hour. Drive time from first jungle stop approx. 1hr

Visit the jungle again, further inland, in an area populated by two indigenous species of monkey, howler and spider monkeys. Now protected by law, the Punta Laguna Monkey Reserve has no fences, but has been the home of these monkeys for many years. You can visit the site, hoping to see both species (but subject as always to rules of wildlife - no guarantee!) as well as more birdlife. For an additional USD40 per person, you can experience a Mayan cleaning ceremony, swim in a cave cenote, zipline across a lake and row back.
