Itinerary
1
Valencia Cathedral
A fascinating compendium of architectural styles reflecting centuries of history. Inside is guarded the Holy Chalice, considered by many as the real Grail, and from its tower, the Miguelete, you get some of the best views of the city.
2
Basílica de la Mare de Déu dels Desemparats
Temple dedicated to the patron saint of Valencia, deeply rooted in local identity. Their devotion comes to a head during the Fallas, when thousands of people participate in the traditional floral offering.
5 minutes
3
La Lonja de la Seda de Valencia
Declared a World Heritage Site, it is one of the jewels of European civil Gothic. This building symbolizes the commercial splendor of 15th century Valencia, when the city was one of the great economic centers of the Mediterranean.
4
Mercat Central de València
One of the largest modernist markets in Europe in operation. Its vibrant daily activity, along with the quality of its fresh produce, make it an essential place to understand Valencian gastronomy and lifestyle.
10 minutes
5
Església de Sant Joan del Mercat
Located opposite the Central Market, this church stands out for its spectacular Baroque facade. Its history reflects the urban and artistic transformations of the city over the centuries.
6
Palau de la Generalitat Valenciana
One of the most representative civil buildings in the city, seat of the Valencian government. Its architecture combines Gothic and Renaissance elements, reflecting the institutional power of the former Kingdom of Valencia and its evolution over the centuries.
7
Serranos Towers (Valencia)
Towering medieval gates that were part of the ancient wall of Valencia. Built in the 14th century, they not only served a defensive function, but also symbolized the greatness of the city. Today they offer one of the best views of the old town and the old riverbed of the Turia.
8
Almoina Archaeological Center
A unique archaeological space that allows you to travel to the origin of Valencia. Roman, Visigothic and Islamic remains are preserved under the current city, showing the historical evolution of the enclave over more than two thousand years. A key place to understand the different cultural layers that have shaped the city.
9
Plaza de la Reina
One of the most lively spaces in the city, where tradition and modernity coexist. From here you get privileged perspectives of the Cathedral and the Miguelete, in an environment full of activity, shops and terraces.
10
Not all places are square. In Valencia, one of the liveliest and most interesting has a circular shape. Located in the heart of the city, Plaza Redonda is a historic enclave dedicated to small business and Valencian traditions. From Muslim times, this area was already the commercial heart of the city, with fishmongers and butchers, until in the 19th century the square as we know it today was built, designed in a perfect circle.
