Miyama Town, where Miyama Kayabuki-no-Sato is located, is a peaceful natural town about 90 minutes by car from the city center of Kyoto. In 1993, the town was selected as a national Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in recognition of its well-preserved historical landscape, including buildings built using traditional techniques.
