This ancient stone bridge was built during the Khmer Empire in the 12th century under the reign of King Jayavarman VII. It is one of the longest corbelled stone arch bridges from the Angkor period and remains remarkably well preserved.

One of the most striking features of Sambor Prei Kuk is its peaceful setting. Unlike the crowds often found at Angkor, visitors here can explore the ruins at a relaxed pace, surrounded by tall trees and quiet pathways. Many of the temples are decorated with intricate carvings, including unique octagonal structures and detailed lintels that reflect early artistic innovation in Khmer design.

This roadside market has gained international attention for its unusual specialty: fried tarantulas and other insects such as crickets and water bugs.
