Tsminda Sameba-Kathedrale
The Holy Trinity Cathedral, known as Sameba, is a masterpiece of modern Georgian architecture and the largest religious building in the South Caucasus. Rising to an impressive height of approximately 87 meters, the cathedral dominates the Tbilisi skyline.
What makes this complex unique is its multi-layered structure: it is built on two levels, with a significant part of the structure located underground. The complex actually consists of nine different chapels (churches), many of which are tucked away in the lower tiers. Your guide will take you through the grand main hall, featuring stunning marble floors and exquisite icons, and explain the architectural journey of this national symbol, which was built to celebrate 1,500 years of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The surrounding gardens offer a peaceful atmosphere and one of the best vantage points for panoramic photos of the city.
