As you cruise out of the Bay of Cartagena, the city's modern skyline of Bocagrande fades behind you. Opposite it sits the Fort of San José, and together they create a dramatic "gateway" as the water transitions from the bay’s emerald green to the deep, sparkling blue of the open Caribbean Sea.

Heading southwest, you will see the coastline of Barú beginning to appear on your left. The crossing takes you into the heart of the Rosario Islands National Park, an archipelago of 27 coral islands. Island Hopping & Snorkeling: You’ll navigate through internal channels surrounded by mangroves and turquoise lagoons. This is the prime time for snorkeling at sites like Bajo de las Almas or the sunken plane near Isla Grande, where the coral reefs are teeming with tropical fish.
