The annual pony swim and round up is going on its 99th year on Chincoteague island. This event is known by the salt water cowboys herding up the wild ponies of Assateague to cross the channel, where they will arrive and be “cattle driven” down to the carnival grounds to be auctioned off. This amazing event is best watched up close by kayak, where we can get where boats can’t!
This is a sure event to cross off your bucket list as you will see over 200 wild Chincoteague ponies herded by our local salt water cowboys, to cross the Assateague Channel.
Be sure to book far in advanced as we have limited space for the event!
