Itinerary
1
Floating Village Rach Vem
1. Check-in with Starfish
This is the "trademark" activity of Rach Vem:
Admire the Starfish: During the clear water season, thousands of red starfish migrate close to the shore, creating an incredible sight beneath the turquoise water.
Important Note: To protect the ecosystem, strictly avoid lifting starfish out of the water or holding them for too long. They are extremely sensitive and can die within seconds of being exposed to air.
2. Experience Fishing Village Life and Floating Houses
Wooden Bridge Walks: The long, rustic wooden bridges connecting the shore to the floating houses (nhà bè) are famous "chill" spots for photos.
3. Enjoy Fresh and Affordable Seafood
Rach Vem is one of the best places in Phu Quoc to enjoy fresh seafood at reasonable prices.
4. Swimming and Water Activities
Swimming: The water here is quite shallow, crystal clear, and calm, making it very safe for swimming.
3 hours
2
Phu Quoc Bee Farm
1. Discover the World of Bees
Hive Tours: Guides will lead you to the wooden hives nestled under orchard trees. You can observe the honeycombs up close and see how worker bees build cells and care for the Queen.
"Beekeeping" Experience: Some farms provide protective gear, allowing you to participate in opening the hive, checking the frames, or gently brushing off bees to inspect the honey.
Conservation Education: You’ll learn about the bee life cycle, their vital role in the ecosystem, and how to distinguish between pure and adulterated honey.
2. Direct Tastings
Taste Fresh Honey: The highlight of the trip is tasting raw honey harvested straight from the hive, featuring the distinct floral sweetness of Phu Quoc’s forest flowers.
Honey-based Drinks: Most farms have a refreshment area serving drinks like honey tea, passion fruit honey juice, or honey coffee. These shops typically use honey as a 100% natural substitute for white sugar.
30 minutes
3
Ngoc Hien Pearl Farm
1. Witness Live Pearl Extraction
This is the most signature and exciting activity at the facility. Visitors can:
Observe Directly: Technicians perform the delicate task of opening mature oysters right in front of you.
The Element of Surprise: There is a sense of anticipation as you wait to see the size, shape, and color of the pearl inside (since not every oyster produces a perfect gem).
Learn Grafting Techniques: Staff explain the intricate process of "nucleation"—inserting a small nucleus into the oyster to stimulate pearl formation.
2. Tour the Museum and Exhibition Area
History and Process: You can walk through sections detailing the history of pearl farming in Phu Quoc, the common oyster species used, and the long-term cultivation stages that can last several years.
Admire Artworks: Beyond jewelry, Ngoc Hien displays exquisite sculptures made from giant clam shells and mother-of-pearl, along with rare fossils found in the region.
1 hour
4
Sim Son Phu Quoc
1. Visit the Sim Flower Gardens
Photos Among the Purple Blooms: If you visit during the blooming season (typically peaking from December to May of the lunar calendar), you can stroll through rows of vibrant purple Sim flowers—a very poetic backdrop for photography.
Learn About Wild Sim Trees: Guides will explain the differences between Phu Quoc’s wild Sim (Rose Myrtle) and those found in other regions, as well as how locals care for the trees to ensure the best fruit yield.
3. Free Tastings
This is usually the most anticipated part of the tour:
Sample Various Wines: You can taste different product lines, ranging from light Sim wine (10-14% ABV) and stronger versions (29% ABV) to Sim syrup (non-alcoholic, perfect for children and those who don't drink alcohol).
Related Treats: Many facilities also offer samples of Sim candy, Sim jam, or Sim syrup to give you a full sense of the flavor profile.
30 minutes
5
Pepper farm
1. Check-in at the "Green Labyrinths"
Photos Among the Pepper Rows: The pepper vines are grown on tall columns, often exceeding head height, creating straight, verdant pathways that look like a natural maze. It is an ideal spot for farm-style photography.
Enjoy the Fresh Air: Unlike the bustling beaches, the pepper gardens offer a peaceful, cool atmosphere filled with the earthy scent of leaves and soil.
2. Learn About Cultivation and Varieties
Farming Techniques: Local farmers will introduce you to Phu Quoc’s unique cultivation methods, which focus on organic fertilizers and avoiding chemical pesticides to maintain the pepper's signature pungent flavor.
Distinguish the Three Types of Pepper: You will learn how three different products are harvested from the same plant:
Red Pepper (Hong Tieu)
Black Pepper,
White Pepper (Tieu So).
30 minutes
6
Nuoc Mam Phu Quoc Huynh Khoa
1. Tour the Giant Wooden Vat Houses
Admire the Scale: You will be amazed by rows of massive wooden vats (typically 2–4 meters high and up to 3 meters in diameter) bound by sturdy rattan ropes.
Learn About Materials: Guides will explain why specific tropical woods (Bo Loi) and rattan are used instead of modern materials to ensure the most authentic fermentation environment and flavor.
2. Discover the Unique Fermentation Process
The "3:1" Formula: Learn about the "golden ratio" of three parts fresh anchovies (salted immediately on the boat) to one part sea salt from Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
The Pressing Technique: Understand the traditional method of layering fish and using heavy wooden beams to compress the mixture, allowing it to ferment naturally for 12 to 15 months.
Witness the Extraction: See how the "first press" (Nuoc Mam Nhi) is painstakingly drawn from small taps at the bottom of the vats—these are the purest, most nutrient-rich drops.
45 minutes
7
Dinh Cau Rock (cau Temple)
1. Sightseeing and Spiritual Worship
Explore the Ancient Temple: Built in 1937 on an oddly shaped rock formation, the temple is dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea (Chua Ngoc Nuong Nuong) and the "Two Princes" (Cau Tai and Cau Quy)—deities who protect fishermen.
Light Incense for Good Luck: You can join the locals in lighting incense to pray for health, peace, and prosperity. It is a traditional stop for fishermen seeking a safe and fruitful voyage before heading out to sea.
2. Witness the Iconic Sunset
Panoramic View: Perched on a rocky outcrop jutting into the ocean, Dinh Cau is widely considered the best sunset-watching spot on the island.
Golden Hour: You can watch the sun slowly dip below the horizon, painting the sky and sea in brilliant shades of orange and red—a truly romantic and magnificent sight.
