Ston is important historical city for Dubrovnik region. It is very famous for its salt pans that were main mean of negotiation during Dubrovnik Republic times. Salt was treated and valued as much as gold in the past which made Ston of crucial importance for the whole Republic. To protect salt pans, huge walls around the city were built. Now these are second longest stone walls in the world. Needless to say, Ston is worth visiting and you will get about half an hour of free time for individual activities in Ston.
