Ollantaytambo
We begin our adventure early in the morning with a comfortable trip from Cusco. After about 3 hours driving through the beautiful Sacred Valley, we arrive at Paso Abra Málaga, a high mountain pass at 4,350 meters (14,271 feet) above sea level. This is where the fun begins with a downhill bike ride all the way into the jungle.
After a safety briefing and getting our gear on, we hop on our bikes and start the ride. Over the next 55 km, the landscape changes dramatically: from the cold mountain air to the warm, misty climate of the cloud forest.
The ride takes between 3.5 and 4 hours, and we always have a support vehicle nearby in case anyone needs it.
In the afternoon, we stop for a well-deserved lunch in Santa María.
Optional: Rafting on the Vilcanota River, paddling through class II and III+ rapids surrounded by tropical landscapes.
If you do not have a rafting reservation, you can visit a family farm where you can enjoy experiences with coffee, coca leaves, chocolate, and much more.
