The Pali Lookout is also famous for its powerful, howling winds. Perched high above Oahu, the Pali Lookout holds deep historical importance. The word “Pali” means “cliff” in Hawaiian, and this site marks the location of the 1795 Battle of Nuuanu, where King Kamehameha I secured victory and unified the island under his rule. The intense battle resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives, with many warriors driven over the lookout’s steep cliffs.

Historic Dole pineapple plantation was founded in 1901. Dole Plantation opened to the public as Hawaii’s “Pineapple Experience” in 1989. Today, Dole Plantation is one of Oahu’s most popular visitor attractions.
