Gyoki Statue with a Fountain
We will meet in front of the Gyoki Bodhisattva Statue, located near Kintetsu Nara Station.
Gyoki was a Buddhist monk who lived in Japan during the 8th century. He was well known for helping local communities and played an important role in the construction of the Great Buddha of Todai-ji Temple in Nara.
The statue is a well-known landmark and a convenient meeting point. Please meet there at the designated time

Kofuku-ji Temple
Kofuku-ji Temple's five-story pagoda that soars elegantly into the sky is an iconic landmark of Nara. This temple stands as a testament to the city’s ancient religious and cultural significance. This temple used to be the family temple of the powerful Fujiwara clan consisted of over 150 buildings in the 8th century. Visitors can delve into the history and artistry of the Heian period through its museum which houses an exquisite collection of Buddhist art.

Nandaimon (great South Gate)
The Great South Gate (Nandaimon) is the main entrance to Tōdai-ji in Nara.
The gate was rebuilt in the late 12th century and is famous for its huge wooden structure and two powerful Guardian Deity statues (Nio). These impressive statues are over 8 meters tall and protect the entrance to the temple.
The Great South Gate is one of the most iconic sights of Todai-ji and a great place to appreciate the scale and craftsmanship of traditional Japanese architecture.

Todai-ji Nigatsudo Kuden
Nigatsudo Hall is a historic building within Tōdai-ji in Nara. It is located on a hillside and offers beautiful views of the city of Nara.
The hall is famous for the Shuni-e ceremony, also known as Omizutori, which has been held every year for more than 1,200 years. The ceremony takes place in March and is one of Japan’s most traditional Buddhist events.
It is also a little hidden gem in Nara, away from the crowds around the Great Buddha Hall. The wooden stage offers a wonderful view of Nara and is a great place to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the temple.

Tamukeyama Hachimangu Shrine
Tamukeyama Hachimangu Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine located near Tōdai-ji in Nara.
The shrine was established in 749 to enshrine Hachiman, the guardian deity of the Great Buddha of Todai-ji. It is closely connected with the history of Todai-ji and is considered an important place in the history of Shinto and Buddhism in Japan.
Surrounded by trees, the shrine has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere and is a nice spot to experience a more traditional and less crowded side of Nara.
