Continuing our journey, we will arrive at the My Lai Museum, which documents the tragic events of March 16, 1968. The museum provides a sobering account of the mass murder of civilians during the Vietnam War. As we explore My Lai village, we will have the opportunity to meet local residents, gaining insight into their lives and the impact of the war on their community.
The village is a poignant reminder of the horrors of conflict, as over 300 unarmed civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, were killed by American soldiers during the search for Viet Cong soldiers. This visit encourages reflection on the past and the resilience of the human spirit.
