Al Jalali Fort, Eastern Kut, or Al Sharqiah Fort is an ancient castle located on rocks overlooking the Gulf of Oman, northeast of Muscat, Sultanate of Oman was built by the Portuguese in 1588 AD to replace an old building believed to have been observed in the form of towers It was built by the people of Muscat and used as a place for political prisoners and as a defensive position through which the city is monitored from various sides.
