Metro Trip (Cidade Universitária to Restauradores): We begin by taking the metro from our meeting point in Cidade Universitária to Restauradores Square.

Restauradores Square (Praça dos Restauradores): A site where the spirit of Portuguese independence comes to life through its streets and monuments.

Rossio Train Station: We will explore this 19th-century architectural and engineering marvel, heading upstairs to enjoy the views from its viewpoint.

Pedro IV Square (Rossio): The commercial and nerve center of the city, symbolizing Lisbon's rebirth after the 1755 earthquake.

We continue to this emblematic square (formerly the city's main marketplace), a central and strategic landmark.

Baixa Pombalina (Downtown): We will walk through the streets of Baixa, the area rebuilt with a grid layout following the 1755 disaster.

Augusta Arch: Marvel at this imposing triumphal arch that celebrates the reconstruction of Lisbon

Commerce Square: We arrive at this square, a silent witness to Lisbon's greatest tragedy and the historic gateway for royalty and maritime trade. We will also observe the equestrian statue of King José I, which presides over the center of the square.

Lisbon City Hall (Câmara Municipal): We will visit the current seat of civil power, a 19th-century building where the Portuguese Republic was famously proclaimed

We head up to the elegant and cosmopolitan district famous for its cafes, shops, bookstores, and theaters. We will learn the history of two iconic Lisbon sites: Bertrand Bookstore (the oldest operating bookstore in the world, founded in 1732) and A Brasileira Café (one of the city’s most important social and cultural hubs since 1905).

Pink Street (Rua Nova do Carvalho): A walk down to the famous Pink Street, an icon of urban renovation and Lisbon’s vibrant nightlife

Mercado da Ribeira (Time Out Market): Finally, we walk toward the Ribeira Market to see its fabulous renovation, now a world-renowned gastronomic and commercial epicenter.
