Itinerary
1. Meet your instructor at your studio Conveniently located just a 2-minute walk from Demachiyanagi Station.
2. Learn About Japanese Swords Discover the basic history of Japanese swords and their importance to the samurai. You will also learn about the Haitōrei Edict.
3. Discover the Parts of a Japanese Sword
Examine the different components of a Japanese sword, including the blade, scabbard, handle, guard, ornamental fittings and cord.
4. Cast the Zinc-Alloy Blade
Learn about the metal-casting process used to produce the decorative blade. With guidance from the instructor, zinc alloy is melted and cast in a specially designed metal mould.
