To shoot with a real yumi, practitioners usually begin with a rubber training bow and spend a long time developing proper form before ever using real arrows. This reflects the discipline and precision at the heart of kyudo.
In our experience, however, we offer a more immediate and engaging introduction. From the start, you’ll have the chance to handle a real yumi and shoot actual arrows under careful guidance. Even beginners can safely enjoy the feeling of drawing the bow, releasing the arrow, and hearing the clear, powerful sound of the string.

If taking a taxi, simply tell the driver “Senbon Shakado” (Daihoonji Temple).
We will be waiting for you at the temple entrance ticket counter.

Experience Kyudo (Japanese archery) in Kyoto with a guided tour of a historic temple. Visit the main hall and treasure hall, home to nationally significant Buddhist statues, before stepping into the practice. Learn under a Kyoshi (master-level) 6th-dan instructor with over 50 years of teaching experience, supported by English and Chinese guidance. Designed for beginners, this experience focuses on movement, awareness, and the process itself. No special attire is required—simply come as you are and enjoy a relaxed introduction to traditional Kyudo.
