The Canopy Walkway in Taman Negara is one of the world’s longest suspension bridges, hanging about 40 metres above the forest floor. A visit to the Batek (Negrito) Village offers a rare opportunity to learn about one of Malaysia’s oldest indigenous communities, the Batek people, who traditionally live as hunter-gatherers in and around Taman Negara. Visitors are introduced to their simple forest lifestyle, including traditional hunting tools such as blowpipes, fire-making methods, and survival skills passed down through generations. The experience is educational and culturally enriching, providing insight into how the Batek live in harmony with the rainforest and rely on its natural resources for food, shelter, and medicine. Visitors are encouraged to be respectful, as this is a living community rather than a performance, making the visit a meaningful cultural exchange.
