Hear inspiring stories of resilience on a cycling tour through Southern Thailand that reveals how local communities rebuilt their lives following the devastating 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. This meaningful journey offers a deeper connection with the people of Takua Pa, in Phang Nga Province on the Andaman coast, just north of Khao Lak. Cycling through peaceful countryside, we stop at key locations that played an important role in the disaster’s aftermath. At the Ban Nam Khem Tsunami Memorial and Museum, we reflect on the lives lost before continuing to the charming Takua Pa Old Town, one of Southern Thailand's most atmospheric heritage districts. Beautifully preserved Sino-Portuguese buildings, funded by the region’s historic tin-mining boom, line the colourful streets.
