We created this tour in response to strong requests from customers who want to see the snow monkeys at Jigokudani Monkey Park on a day trip from Tokyo. Jigokudani Monkey Park is the only place in the world where you can encounter monkeys bathing in hot springs. The monkeys learned to bathe in hot springs as a way to survive the bitter cold of Jigokudani in winter but there is no need for them to bathe in hot springs during warm seasons. Bathing in hot springs is only a small part of the monkeys' lives. Hot springs are not something that monkeys can't live without. You can observe wild Japanese monkeys up close in the beautiful scenery that changes with clear-cut Japanese seasons. Be sure to take in the adorable sights of cute new-born baby monkeys giving birth in the spring, energetic child monkeys playing in the summer, and wild monkeys relaxing in the hot springs in the winter. It takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the park from the parking lot. A guide will accompany you on the walk, so you can enjoy the tour with peace of mind.
*Monkeys are wild animals, so please be sure to follow the observation rules.
*It takes 4 hours one way from Tokyo to Jigokudani Snow Monkey park, for a total of 8 hours.
You will spend approximately 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours in the park.
