Mount Helmos is one of the most impressive mountain destinations near Athens, perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy a truly special hiking experience. Set between the gorges of Vouraikos and the Krathis river, the area combines wild terrain with beautiful natural scenery, creating a day you won’t easily forget.
The hike starts from Xirokampos, at around 1,600 meters, close to the Kalavryta Ski Center. The trail passes through dense fir forest, where the quiet surroundings and the scent of the trees help you relax and slow down. As you gain altitude and reach the alpine zone, the landscape changes, leading you to Neraidorachi, the most well-known peak in Achaia at 2,238 meters.
