It is the historical and cultural capital of Bulgaria. Often referred to as the "City of the Tsars", Veliko Tarnovo is located on the Yantra River and is famously known as the historical capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire, attracting many tourists with its unique architecture.
You will have the opportunity to explore the town at your leisure and discover its fascinating history and culture. The market street Samovodska is a real treasure, a tourist attraction where one can see renovated old houses, various traditional craft workshops, bakeries, pastry shops and the so-called Hadji Nikoli Inn built in 1858.

The Bridge of Friendship
The Danube Bridge also known as the Friendship Bridge is a steel truss bridge over the Danube River connecting the Bulgarian bank to the south with the Romanian bank to the north. It is one of only two bridges connecting Romania and Bulgaria.
Designed by Soviet engineers, the bridge is 2,223.52 m (7,295.0 ft) long and was, at the time, the only bridge over the Danube shared by Bulgaria and Romania (1954). The central part of the bridge (85 m) is mobile and can be lifted for oversized boats passage. The maintenance of the mobile part is Romania's responsibility and is periodically checked. The bridge was constructed in two and a half years with the aid of the Soviet Union.
