Indigo dyeing is more than a craft — it is a living cultural heritage of the Black Tay and other ethnic minority communities in Northern Vietnam. For generations, indigo garments have reflected identity, beliefs, and a deep connection to nature, using dye extracted from the Indigofera plant through a completely natural process.
Today, this tradition is at risk. Industrial textiles, tourism-driven jobs, and the use of chemical farming methods are gradually replacing handmade practices and organic cultivation.
We are working to preserve this fragile heritage by supporting over 120 producers from seven ethnic minority groups, promoting organic indigo farming, employing disabled and deaf staff...

Step into the world of traditional indigo craftsmanship in this immersive tie-dye workshop inspired by the textile heritage of Northern Vietnam’s ethnic minorities, guided by artisans and cultural researchers who have worked with ethnic minority communities for over 20 years.
Begin your experience with a welcome drink made from traditional Dao herbal medicine before learning about the cultural complex and the importance of indigo in preserving ethnic identity. You’ll be introduced to traditional tie-dye techniques, including stitching and binding methods used to create distinctive patterns.
