You will also view examples of Kintsugi works before selecting a ceramic plate to repair yourself. The instructor will provide a live demonstration, followed by hands-on practice. For bonding, a two-part epoxy resin is used, and brass powder is applied for the final decorative finish, offering a modern and safe approach to Kintsugi.

In the calm and elegant atmosphere of our long-established kimono shop, you will learn the basics of Kintsugi, the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics. Through this mindful practice, you will cultivate an appreciation for sustainability and the spirit of cherishing objects. The workshop is led by Tokusaburo Miyagawa, the shop owner who previously worked as a wooden-boat builder in the United States. His experience brings depth and authenticity to the process, allowing you to feel the aesthetic values and philosophy behind Japanese culture.
