We will discover Comillas, an elegant coastal villa with a heritage of economic and cultural splendour reached between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. During the walk we will know the legacy of the Marquises of Comillas and contemplate some of the most representative buildings of the town. We will approach the ensemble of Sobrellano, formed by the imposing Palace of Sobrellano and the Chapel-Pantheon of the Marquises of Comillas. Its neo-Gothic inspired facades, ornamental elements and landscaped surroundings allow us to understand the historical relevance of this family and its influence on the transformation of the villa. We will also contemplate the old Pontifical University, a monumental building located in a high position from which the urban area of Comillas is dominated. We continue through the historic center, passing through the Fuente de los Tres Caños, a work linked to Catalan modernism; the traditional Corro de Campíos and the surroundings of the City Hall.

We will access Gaudí’s El Capricho, one of the most original works of the celebrated Catalan architect and one of the great symbols of Comillas. Conceived as a summer residence, the building stands out for its inspiration in nature, its colorful ceramic decoration and the integration of ornamental, musical and functional elements. The tour includes both the gardens and outdoor spaces and the interior of the building, where we will discover Gaudí’s creativity through his stays, architectural solutions and decorative details. Entrance and access to the interior of Gaudi’s El Capricho are included in the activity.

We will continue to Santillana del Mar, one of the most outstanding historical villages in Cantabria. We will walk through its cobblestone streets, lined by manor houses, palaces and buildings of medieval and modern origin that have allowed to preserve the traditional atmosphere of the town. During the walk we will arrive at the Plaza Mayor, center of civil power of the old villa. There we will look at the Torre del Merino and the Torre de Don Borja, two of its oldest civil buildings, as well as other historic houses that make up one of the most photographed monumental ensembles in Santillana del Mar.
