Your day begins at Tulum, the only major Maya city built directly on the Caribbean coast. Arriving by golf cart, you'll step into a walled city perched on limestone cliffs, with turquoise water stretching below and the jungle framing every angle behind you. With your certified federal guide, you'll walk through the site at an easy pace, learning how Tulum served as a coastal trading hub connecting Maya communities by sea. Your guide brings the history to life, the temples, the watchtowers, the meaning behind the site's layout, with time built in to simply take it all in. You'll have plenty of time for photos along the cliffside, with some of the most striking ocean views of any Maya site in the region. Depending on the day, you may also spot iguanas sunning themselves on the ancient stone walls. This isn't a rushed walkthrough; it's a chance to genuinely understand the place before continuing on to Cobá, a very different chapter of Maya history still ahead.

Leaving the coast behind, you'll travel deeper into the jungle to Cobá; a Maya city from an entirely different era than Tulum, built around a network of ancient stone roads that once connected distant communities across the region. A bike-taxi is included throughout your visit, making it easy and comfortable to cover the site's spread-out grounds without the fatigue of walking long distances in the heat. You'll head straight to Nohoch Mul, the tallest pyramid in the Yucatán Peninsula, where you can climb to the summit for sweeping views over an unbroken sea of jungle canopy. On the way back, your bike-taxi brings you through the Cobá Group, where you'll see the ancient Maya ballgame court and the pyramid known as La Iglesia. It's a very different rhythm from Tulum; quieter, greener, and grounded in a distinct chapter of Maya history.

The cenote featured in our photos is a reference example of the kind of experience you can expect: open-air, clear water, and a peaceful, natural setting. However, the exact cenote we visit will most likely be a different one: a quieter, more hidden spot that isn't marked on local maps or listed among the well-known tourist cenotes. We choose these lesser-known cenotes deliberately, as they tend to be far less crowded, giving your small group a much more private and relaxed swim than you'd find at the popular sites nearby. Your guide selects the best option for your specific day, based on conditions and access. Either way, you can expect the same thing: still, clean water surrounded by jungle, away from the busier cenotes most tour groups visit.

After a full day of history, jungle, and swimming, you'll return to Playa del Carmen for a well-earned meal at Lara&Luca; a very comfortable, air-conditioned restaurant, where you can finally relax in a cool, welcoming space after the heat of the day. The menu here is genuinely excellent, with dishes prepared to a standard well above what you'd expect from a typical tour lunch stop. Every plate is thoughtfully made using quality ingredients, giving you a real dining experience rather than a rushed, forgettable meal squeezed in between activities.
