Itinerary
1
Chinchero
At 6:30 in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel. Then, we will take a bus north from Cusco and, in about 40 minutes, we will arrive at Chinchero, a town with Inca design and an outstanding agricultural area. We will visit its colonial church on top of Inca temples and see textiles made by local artisans.
2 hours
2
Moray
Afterwards, we will head to Moray, famous for its circular terraces located in natural sinkholes, which were used to experiment with different microclimates and the adaptation of plants.
2 hours
3
Maras
We will then visit the salt mines, which have been in operation since pre-Incan times and have more than 3,000 shallow pools, owned by approximately 380 families. These pools are supplied with salt water filtered by the Qoripukiu hill, known as the "Golden Fountain." Finally, we will enjoy an exquisite tourist buffet in Urubamba, prepared with fresh products from the Sacred Valley.
4 hours
4
Ollantaytambo
After enjoying lunch, we will board the bus for a 30-minute trip to the archaeological center of Ollantaytambo. This site, which was successively occupied, served as an important administrative, military, social and economic center during the Inca era, and functioned as a checkpoint for various ecological levels.
After the visit, we will take the bus to the archaeological center of Pisaq.
3 hours
5
Pisac
At Pisaq, whose name comes from the Quechua word "P'isaq" (partridge), the Incas used advanced systems of terraces and irrigation canals to cultivate the giant white corn, known as "parcay sara." The site is divided into religious, urban, social and economic areas, and was built on elevated and secure areas, often on land unsuitable for agriculture.
Originally, Pisaq was a colonial market dedicated to the exchange of local products. Today, in addition to the sale of various products, handicrafts are also offered due to the constant flow of tourists. We will return to Cusco around 7:00 p.m.
