Innenhof der Pigna
Der Innenhof war ursprünglich Teil des Cortile del Belvedere, der von Donato Bramante entworfen wurde, um den Palast von Papst Innozenz VIII. mit der Sixtinischen Kapelle zu verbinden. Als Bramante starb, vollendete der Architekt Pirro Ligorio das Projekt und fügte die Mauer und Nische hinzu, um den Innenhof abzuschließen.

Laokoon
Der achteckige Hof war früher als Cortile delle Statue bekannt. Er beherbergte den ersten Kern antiker klassischer Statuen in den päpstlichen Sammlungen, als Papst Julius II. della Rovere (1503-1513) seine eigene Sammlung antiker Skulpturen ausstellte. Darunter befand sich auch die weltberühmte Laokoon-Gruppe.
