Vesuvius is one of only two active volcanoes in continental Europe and stands approximately 1281 meters high, with a symmetrical central cone and steep, forested slopes. The entire Vesuvius National Park is beautiful and productive, dotted with small farms and wineries grown with ancient varieties that boast a unique terroir. A visit to the crater is a must and every year tourists from all over the world climb the path to peer into its depths.
