Itinerary
1
Bazzano
The elegance of the old town is combined with the geometric beauty of the countryside that offers picturesque views, nature, historic villas and old farmhouses, a testimony of the ancient agricultural tradition.
30 minutes
2
Rocca dei Bentivoglio e Museo
Situated on the hill that overlooks the inhabited centre, is visible when entering the town and it is also the centre of numerous cultural activities, as well as housing the Musical Center and the Archaeological Civic Museum “A. Crespellani” that has given Bazzano the title "Art City".
1 hour
3
La Giuditta
A bronze work by the Savignanese sculptor Giuseppe Graziosi, the statue of the "Bagnante", renamed "Giuditta" by the Bazzanese, was placed in the center of the fountain commissioned from the artist in 1914 to complete the arrangement of the square. The controversy raised by the statue's nudity led to its removal a few years later. Only in 1989 was the statue relocated outside the town hall, where it had been kept all that time.
5 minutes
4
Vignola
Vignola is fascinating both for the physical context in which it is situated, surrounded by fruit trees whose blossoms create a breathtaking sight during spring, and for its history and architecture.
30 minutes
5
Rocca di Vignola
The splendid Rocca di Vignola Fortress, with its richly decorated interiors, is medieval in origin. According to historical evidence, it was built in the 8th century by the Abbot of Nonantola for the purposes of defending the Abbey’s lands.

Palazzo Barozzi
In Piazza dei Contrari, just across from the Rocca, is Palazzo Contrari-Boncompagni, better known as Palazzo Barozzi because of its delightful spiral staircase designed by the architect Jacopo Barozzi. A masterpiece of architecture of the 1500s, the staircase is a striking, self-supporting structure in the shape of a sinuous spiral with 106 steps. The Barozzi Staircase is fascinating for its architecture as well as for its artistic beauty.
