Palatine Hill
Originally built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian, constructed in 80 AD, Piazza Navona retains the elongated rectangular shape of the ancient arena. After falling into disrepair following the fall of the Roman Empire, it was repurposed as a public space in the late 15th century.
