Hermanus Cliff Path
A visit to the Hermanus Cliff Path is one of the most rewarding ways to explore this charming coastal town and its breathtaking natural scenery. Stretching for about 12 kilometers along the rugged shoreline, the path offers spectacular views of the ocean, rocky cliffs, and pristine beaches. It’s well maintained and easy to walk, making it accessible to both casual strollers and keen hikers. Along the way, you’ll pass through a mix of coastal fynbos, gardens, and lookout points that are perfect for photography or simply pausing to soak in the beauty of the surroundings.
The Cliff Path is world-renowned for land-based whale watching, especially during the season from June to November, when southern right whales migrate close to shore. From the various vantage points, you can often see whales, sometimes just meters from the path. Even outside whale season, the path is alive with birdlife, seals, and dolphins, offering plenty of reasons to enjoy this unique experience.

Hauptstrand von Betty's Bay
A visit to Betty’s Bay offers the unforgettable opportunity to see the charming African penguins in their natural habitat at the Stony Point Nature Reserve. This colony is one of the largest successful breeding sites of African penguins in the world, and unlike the more crowded Boulders Beach, it provides a quieter, more intimate experience. Visitors can stroll along the wooden boardwalks that wind through the reserve, offering excellent views of the penguins as they waddle on the rocks, nest in burrows, or dive gracefully into the sea. The reserve is also home to other seabirds such as cormorants and gulls, making it a paradise for bird lovers.
