Itinerary
1
Bishkek
Meet your English-speaking guide at the train station in Bishkek. From here, the group sets off together toward the Chuy Valley for a day packed with history, nature, and lake views.
20 minutes
2
Burana Tower
Your first stop is the historic Burana Tower — a 9th-century minaret that once guided Silk Road travelers across the steppe. Climb to the top for panoramic views over the Chuy Valley, explore the ancient petroglyphs and stone warrior statues at the base, and learn the fascinating story of the lost city of Balasagun from your guide.
1 hour
3
Boom Gorge
After Burana, we stop at a local café for a well-earned break. You'll try kattama — a traditional Kyrgyz layered flatbread — served with tea brewed in a classic samovar. A simple and authentic taste of local life before we head into the canyons.
30 minutes
4
Kok Moinok Canyon
Located in the Boom Gorge on the way to Issyk-Kul, Kok-Moynok is one of Kyrgyzstan's most beautiful hidden gems. The canyons are made of red and yellow sandstone, shaped over millions of years into towers, corridors, and formations that look almost like a fairy tale.
You'll walk through winding passages up to 2.5 km long, with plenty of time to explore and take photos. The walk is easy and relaxed — no special fitness level required.
2 hours
5
Balykchy
The final stop is the western shore of Issyk-Kul Lake, one of the largest alpine lakes in the world. We visit a local beach where you can sit by the water, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and take in the stunning views.
From June to August, the water is warm enough to swim — so bring your swimsuit if you're visiting in summer.
2 hours
6
Bishkek
After the lake, we drive back to Bishkek along the scenic Boom Gorge. You'll arrive in the evening, having covered ancient history, dramatic canyons, and one of the world's most beautiful lakes — all in one day.
