Gendarmenmarkt
We recommend to start the self guided Tour at "Gendarmenmarkt" - but you can start from anywhere
Gendarmenmarkt, located in the historical heart of Berlin, is one of the city’s most beautiful squares, flanked by the stunning architecture of the Konzerthaus and the twin churches: the French Cathedral (Französischer Dom) and the German Cathedral (Deutscher Dom). A historic fact about Gendarmenmarkt is that it was designed in the late 17th century and has played a significant role in Berlin's cultural and political history ever since. A great spot to take a selfie is in front of the majestic Konzerthaus, particularly when it's illuminated at night, providing a dramatic backdrop with its classical facade and graceful columns.

Alexanderplatz
Alexanderplatz is a major public square and transport hub in the central Mitte district of Berlin, famously known as "Alex" to Berliners. Originally a cattle market in the Middle Ages, Alexanderplatz gained its current name in honor of a visit by the Russian Emperor Alexander I in 1805. Visitors can comfortably spend about an hour or two here, exploring its shops, enjoying street food, and observing the hustle and bustle of city life. A cool spot to take a selfie is in front of the World Time Clock, a popular meeting place and a symbolic landmark, with the iconic Fernsehturm (TV Tower) in the background, providing a striking mix of historical and modern urban scenery.

Brandenburg Gate
The Brandenburg Gate is not only one of Berlin's most iconic structures but also a symbol of German unity and history. Originally constructed in 1791, the gate was part of a series of customs posts that surrounded Berlin. Throughout history, it has witnessed numerous significant events, including Napoleon’s invasion and the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Visitors often spend about 30 minutes to an hour here, soaking up the historical significance and architectural grandeur. A perfect spot for a selfie is directly in front of the gate, capturing its impressive columns and the Quadriga sculpture atop, especially stunning when lit up at night or during sunset.

Reichstag Building
The Reichstag building is a cornerstone of German history and now serves as the seat of the German parliament (Bundestag). Opened in 1894, this historic building became even more significant after its reconstruction and the addition of a modern glass dome in 1999, designed by architect Norman Foster to symbolize transparency and openness in government. A visit here is both educational and enjoyable, with families typically spending around 1.5 to 2 hours exploring. The dome offers a unique, interactive experience that kids especially love, featuring a 360-degree view of the city. For a fantastic family selfie, head to the rooftop terrace within the dome, capturing the impressive city skyline and the intricate glass structure above.

Tiergarten
Tiergarten is Berlin's most popular inner-city park, offering a vast green oasis in the midst of urban hustle. Originally developed as a hunting ground for Prussian royalty, it was transformed into a public park in the 1830s by Peter Joseph Lenné. This sprawling park covers an area of about 520 acres, making it a fantastic spot for families to spend anywhere from a few hours to a full day picnicking, biking, and exploring its many pathways, ponds, and play areas. A fun spot for a family selfie is by the picturesque lake near the English Garden, or with the famous Victory Column in the background, which adds a historical touch to your photos while surrounded by lush greenery. The Victory Column is an iconic monument located in Berlin's Tiergarten Park. It was completed in 1873 to commemorate the Prussian victory in the Franco-Prussian War. The column is crowned by a gilded statue of Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory, affectionately known as "Goldelse" by locals.
