This is the exclusive secret stop. We will step away from the commercial tourist areas and enter a quiet residential alley in Menlou Hutong, which is officially designated as a Beijing Historical and Cultural Protected Site. I will take you inside my relative's private family courtyard home (Siheyuan). Crucially, this is NOT a staged museum or a commercial tourist shop; it is a precious piece of living history where my family actually lives every single day. Inside this beautiful residence, we will sit down in the private pavilion like old friends. We will host a traditional Chinese tea tasting ceremony (Gongfu Tea) for you, paired with amazing, authentic local Beijing comfort food and seasonal snacks freshly handmade by my aunt! You will marvel at the historic architecture, experience the warmth of true local hospitality, and see how traditional life beautifully thrives in modern Beijing.
1 hour and 30 minutes

Next, we will venture into a hidden local wet market tucked deep inside the residential lanes. Unlike the famous, upscale, and westernized Sanyuanli Market, this is a raw and authentic market where only true local Beijingers shop for their daily lives. It is vibrant, nostalgic, and full of lively street cries. If we are lucky, we will track down some legendary traditional snacks that uniquely belong to the historic Xuanwu District—treats you can rarely find anywhere else in modern Beijing today. It’s an unpolished, 100% genuine cultural experience!
30 minutes

Niujie Mosque
We will next explore Niujie, the oldest and largest Muslim community in Beijing with over 1,000 years of history. You will admire the stunning exterior of the historic Niujie Mosque, first built in 996 CE, which uniquely blends traditional Chinese palace architecture with rich Islamic art. This vibrant neighborhood is the beating heart of Beijing’s Halal food culture. We will stroll down the lively food street, experience the local Hui community's unique customs, and indulge in legendary street foods—from mouth-watering beef buns and aromatic rice cakes to rare local desserts that you can only find in this historic corner of the former Xuanwu District!

To wrap up the incredible journey, we will participate in a fun and interactive hands-on cultural workshop: learning how to spin the Diabolo (Chinese Yo-yo), a centuries-old art form designated as China's National Intangible Cultural Heritage! Under my step-by-step guidance, you will master the basic balancing, spinning, and even some fun starter tricks in the open space of the historic Hutong. Feel the whistle of the spinning diabolo, connect with local elderly residents who do this daily for fitness, and capture the most memorable, dynamic photos and videos of your Beijing trip!

We will conclude the journey at a fascinating cultural revival hub—a true 'Hutong Art Village' hidden within the historic center. We will stroll through a unique alley where centuries-old architecture meets modern Chinese creativity. You will see indie design studios, retro bookstores, boutique art galleries, and hip cafes tucked into traditional brick houses. It’s the perfect place to witness how Beijing's younger generation is preserving old heritage through contemporary art and lifestyle, making it a visually stunning and thought-provoking finale to the tour!
