Built in 1420 during the Ming Dynasty, Xiannongtan was the imperial altar where Ming and Qing emperors worshipped the God of Agriculture and held sacred ploughing ceremonies to pray for good harvests. Today it houses the Beijing Ancient Architecture Museum, showcasing fine examples of imperial sacrificial architecture.
