Old Government Buildings
We leave wellington passing what is locally known as the beehive (wellington government buildings)

Petone Foreshore
We travel along state highway one then onto state highway 2 beside wellington harbor towards Petone and travel along Petone esplanade towards wainuiomata hill

Wainuiomata
we climb over into the valley of wainuiomata home of famous all black legend Tana Umaga and Piri Weepu were we travel for about 30 minutes weaving our way down coast road to the car park below the lighthouse

We arrive at the car park were we disembark for a a choice of two walks
1/ straight to lighthouse is a 1hr walk eachway or
2/ with the grand loop that covers 6.5 to 8km walk that takes 3 to 4 hours
