Famous for the iconic Buddha head entwined in tree roots, this 14th-century monastery once stood at the spiritual center of Ayutthaya. The ruined prangs and crumbling chedis scattered across the site give a vivid impression of the city’s former grandeur, even in decay.

Once part of the royal palace complex, this temple was used exclusively by kings and royal family members. Its three grand chedis, lined in a row, have become a symbol of Ayutthaya and stand as one of the city’s most photogenic historic sites.

Built in Khmer style along the Chao Phraya River, this temple complex features a towering central prang surrounded by smaller spires. Its riverside setting and symmetry make it one of Ayutthaya’s most atmospheric ruins, especially popular for photos at sunset.

Known for its massive chedi that dominates the skyline, this temple remains an active monastery today. Rows of seated Buddha statues in saffron robes line the terraces, creating a serene contrast to the more ruined temples elsewhere in the city.
