Serrania de La Macarena
We will enjoy the first day of the landscape that the route offers us. The Serranía de la Macarena is located in the Andean foothills in the Amazon jungle, it is the meeting point of the Andean, Amazonian and Orinoco ecosystems.
The Serranía de la Macarena was the first national nature reserve established in Colombia in 1948. Thanks to this, a practically virgin ecosystem can be appreciated. With luck we could find fauna such as anteaters, jaguars, pumas, deer, monkeys, birds, insects and reptiles. In the case of flora we can find thousands of orchids, flowers and plants.
